Traffic & Growth

trafficAlthough much of Fairfax County has been developed during recent years, Mason District has long been developed and the need for revitalization is key to the continued improvement of our community. Penny has tirelessly worked toward the revitalization of key areas, like downtown Annandale and Bailey’s Crossroads.

Working with developers, local volunteers, and planners, Penny has urged intelligent revitalization plans that can be coupled with innovative ways of dealing with traffic congestion. She listens to local citizens’ concerns, while creating a welcoming atmosphere for developers who want to be part of the community, not just building owners.

The challenges that arise from balancing the need to make the best use of land in Mason District, while concurrently providing a better quality of life for residents, is an ongoing process that can take years. The tightening of credit markets reduces developer activity and opportunities, while the need to adjust the Comprehensive Plan when necessary to provide necessary accommodation for growth requires citizens’ input. But Penny believes that local cooperation and participation is necessary to assure a constantly improving Mason District that meets the reasonable expectation of affected residents.

Penny will continue to work toward the revitalization and improvement of Mason District, to improve the quality of life for you and your neighbors.
