Affordable Housing

affordable housingA long standing and strong advocate of affordable housing, Penny recognizes that the need to have affordable housing in Fairfax County is acute and growing. Citing the positive benefits of having County workers, like teachers, police and fire fighters, able to afford to live in Fairfax County while serving the public is a positive combination.

Penny understands that maintaining affordable housing also provides assistance to persons in need, like the elderly and the handicapped. And by encouraging relationships with non-profit groups, the County has maximized its impact on the quality of life for all. That way Fairfax County residents can live safely and with dignity, regardless of their economic or physical condition. Penny is proud that Fairfax County is recognized nationally for one of the best run affordable housing programs in the Country.

Although tough economic times have reduced the County’s ability to invest the same level of funding that it has in the past, that circumstance is not an indication of any reduction in Penny’s commitment to serving at-need families. Funds have been found to make necessary improvements to the Lincolnia Senior Center and other key projects. Therefore, the greatest priorities continue to be met, to assure that affordable housing is available.
