Public safety is a core responsibility of local government and Fairfax County boasts, rightly so, the most cost efficient law enforcement effort for communities its size, while maintaining an extremely low crime rate that demonstrates a continuous effort to keep our residents safe. Penny supports continuing investments in public safety personnel and equipment to respond to emergency situations. At the same time, we must ensure that we remain vigilant against threats to community safety, such as gang activity, substance abuse, and public health menaces.
Supervisor Gross was the first and only elected official on the scene after the catastrophic snowstorms of 2010 collapsed the roof of Bailey’s Crossroads Fire Station 10, and she ensured that fire and rescue services remained available to local residents and businesses. She has advocated forcefully for the design and engineering of a new station on the site to continue to serve a diverse population.
Supervisor Gross understands that quality of life begins with the promotion of safety and health. She believes in cooperative, informed efforts by citizens and Neighborhood Watch organizations to keep our homes and families safe, and she will continue to promote advances in technology and training to maintain the low crime rate enjoyed by Mason District residents.
